OUR ARTISTS
Welcome everyone to the Equine Color Project (ECP). This group was originally designed for the Artistic Community of
Virtual Horse Ranch.com (VHR), but has since turned into an international project. Our goal is to provide art work in different mediums of realistic equine colors, as well as list all known names for said colors.
Unfortuntally, I have had to type up a
full disclaimer due to people unable to voice their selves in a mature manner. But in sum, nothing I write here is set in stone. All this information has been researched thoroughly, and to the best of my knowledge, documented. However, new color terms are always turning up. So if I miss something, please let me know in a professional manner.
Thank you,
BLACK CHESTNUT BAY GREY WHITE PATTERNS OTHERSGenetically a horse is either Red or Black, and everything else is due to an additional modifier or dilution. If youd like to learn more I have composed a number of
articles posted on DA. For the sake of organizing these color terms I have listed them under their base colors (Black, Chestnut, Bay), Grey (modifier), White Pattern (modifier), or Other patterns or Colors. A list of composite colors has not been added, but I will be working on one to show the flow of color dominance.
Membership to ECP
To be able to submit artwork or photographs, you first must be a member of
Virtual Horse Ranch, an equine simulation community.

Members are not required to submit artwork, however if you do want to submit artwork. You must follow the

how to prepare your artwork.
